The VFS Global Centre in Algiers will implement a new operating schedule beginning March 1, 2025, in recognition of Ramadan. VFS centers handling French visa applications, in particular, urge applicants to take note of the new timings and adjust accordingly. The change will last only until March 30, 2025.
New Hours for French Visa Applications
The revised French visa application hours take into consideration the shift in daily routines during Ramadan. As many applicants at this time do fasting, early appointments become more convenient. Hence, authorities modified the schedule to minimize congestion while still ensuring efficient service. This adjustment follows similar measures taken in previous years.
Under the updated schedule, the VFS centers will accept regular visa application submissions from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Given these points, applicants must arrive early to avoid last-minute rushes. To help streamline crowd management, the center will allot 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for processing high-demand applications.
Meanwhile, special time slots will be available for specific French visa applicant categories. For instance, descendants of French citizens and foreign spouses of French nationals can submit applications between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. These priority applicants may also make use of the dedicated 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. window.
Impact on French Visa Applicants
With the adjusted schedule, French visa applicants should plan their visits accordingly. Those used to late-afternoon visits must adapt to earlier submission times. Given the demand for morning slots, it’s best to submit their visa applications
.Processing times could also experience minor delays due to the altered schedule. However, officials assure applicants that efficiency remains a top priority. While appointment availability may shift, the center aims to accommodate all submissions within reasonable timelines.
Demand for French Visas in Algiers
France remains one of the most sought-after destinations for Algerian travelers. Every year, thousands apply for Schengen visas at the Algiers VFS center. In fact, demand has steadily risen over the past decade. Officials process thousands of applications monthly, making schedule adjustments crucial.
Out of all French visa applications worldwide, Algerian applicants account for 10 percent. In 2023, the French consulate in Algiers received 152,411 applications, which accounted for 54.6 percent of French visa applications from Algerians that year. Meanwhile, the French consulate in Annaba received 53,379 applications and in Oran 73,215.
This revised schedule reflects ongoing efforts to improve services while addressing applicants’ needs. Authorities expect a temporary increase in wait times but emphasize that the change is necessary for a smoother experience.
Tips for Applicants
To avoid inconvenience, applicants should book French visa appointments as soon as possible. Arriving early can help bypass long queues, especially in the morning. Additionally, checking for updates on the VFS website ensures that travelers stay informed about any further adjustments.
By adhering to the new schedule, applicants can streamline their visa process while respecting Ramadan traditions. With proactive planning, they can navigate these temporary changes smoothly and secure their visas without hassle.
